Sonoco implementing price increase for paperboard tubes and cores in the U.S., Canada and Europe
(USA, March 13, 2017) Sonoco today announced it is implementing price increases for all paperboard tubes and cores in the United States and Canada by a minimum of 10 percent.
The increase is effective with shipments beginning April 10, 2017.
“This price adjustment is necessary to recover continuing cost inflation, particularly in uncoated recycled paperboard, our primary raw material,” said James Harrell, corporate vice president for Sonoco’s U.S. and Canada Tubes and Cores Division.

Kyiv CPM starts production of cardboard KTU VP; for flat layers of corrugated cardboard
(Ukraine, March 14, 2017) Since March 2017 Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill starts production of cardboard KTU VP for flat layers of corrugated cardboard with increased wet strength characteristics.

Brazil’s Suzano raises China pulp prices to $660 per tonne
(Sao Paulo, Brazil, March 13, 2017) Brazilian wood pulp and paper producer Suzano Papel e Celulose SA will raise pulp prices for customers in China by $30 to $660 per tonne starting on April 1, the company said on Monday.
The move follows a similar hike in pulp prices announced in mid-February. Global pulpmakers have repeatedly raised prices in recent months as cyclical demand recovers in key markets such as China. (Source: Reuters)

Slovak producer Bukoza to invest €25M in new facility
(Bratislava, March 13, 2017) Slovak pulp, cellulose and wood products maker Bukoza has unveiled plans to invest about €25 million to launch production of two-ply wrapping paper testliner made of waste paper and waste from production of basic cellulose in Vranov nad Topou, Slovakia.
The new facility is to be enabled to make about 70,000 tonnes of testliner per year, according to data from the state-run Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).

(Helsinki, Finland, March 6, 2017) Metsä Board introduced a new paperboard cup design concept called ‘Lidloc’ at the Packaging Innovations Exhibition held in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 1–2 March.

Caraustar to Increase Price on All Uncoated Recycled Paperboard Grades
