FFIF: Finland’s paperboard production up 17.5 per cent in 3Q
(Helsinki, Nov. 30, 2016) Finland’s paperboard production grew by as much as 17.5% in the 3Q, to 840,000 tonnes, boosted particularly by new investments in the forest industry. At the same time, paper production declined by 5% and amounted to 1.7 million tones, according to Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF).
Pulp production increased by 11.2% in 3Q 2016to a total of 1.9 million tonnes.
In the 9 months period paper production decreased by of 6.1% to the total production volume of 5.1 million tonnes.
Pulp production increased at almost the same rate, with a year-on-year increase of 6.4% in January–September and a total production volume of 5.6 million tonnes.
Paperboard production grew by 10% to 2.5 million tonnes during the first three quarters of the year. (Source: press release)
