(Morden, Surrey, UK, Dec 06, 2016) China plans to increase the share of biomass-based energy in its power supply in a bid to reduce reliance on coal and improve air quality.
According to China’s National Energy Administration’s 13th five-year plan, covering the period of 2016 to 2020, the country will achieve biomass energy equivalent of 58 million of tonnes by 2020 the end of the plan.

Sonoco to invest $20 million in new battery packaging center
(Atlanta, USA, Dec. 05, 2016) Sonoco will invest $20 million in the development of a new packaging center to support Duracell’s new North America battery packaging operation.
Sonoco’s Display and Packaging unit will be located in Duracell’s new leased facility in the Atlanta area.
Sonoco will install and operate state-of-the-art primary packaging equipment at the new center and provide all packaging materials. In addition, the Company will produce retail merchandising displays which will also be packed out at the same facility.

Tri-Wall to take over Polish cardboard packaging maker; acquisition plans in Poland
(Hong Kong, Dec. 05, 2016) Hong-Kong based Tri-Wall Europe Holding Limited has unveiled plans to take over Polish cardboard packaging producer TPMS Polska sp. z o.o.
The Hong-Kong based firm applied to the Polish competition watch-dog UOKiK to secure an approval for its acquisition plan. Tri-Wall aims to take over a 58% stake in TPMS. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

(02 Dec 2016) The hardwood pulp (eucalyptus kraft) segment continues to report strong prices. Pulp producers like Ence, Cenibra, Fibria, etc. have announced a new round of hikes effective January 01, 2017.
Spain’s pulp firm ENCE has announced a BEK [bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp] $10/t price hike lift BEK prices to $675/t, EUWID reports.
