Menasha Packaging to centralize its Minnesota operations; will optimize efficiencies
(USA, Nov. 16, 2016) Menasha will consolidate its Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, corrugated sheet plant into the company’s Lakeville, Minnesota, plant by the end of March 2017. The consolidation will optimize efficiencies and centralize the company’s Minnesota manufacturing operations in support of growth of its retail display services.
The Brooklyn Park plant employs 84 and has been in operation since 1984. Employees will be offered an opportunity to apply for positions at other Menasha plants. The consolidation will not affect production. Read More...
DS Smith achieves sustainability targets

Turkey launches AD investigation into brown kraftliner imports from Brazil, Finland, Poland and Russia

Turkey is considering to impose antidumping (AD) duties on imports of certain kraftliner papers from several European countries and Brazil. Valmet receives a repeat order from Stora Enso Sunila mill
(Helsinki, Finland, Nov. 15, 2016) Valmet has received a repeat order for a Valmet IQ Process and Quality Vision system (PQV) from Stora Enso Sunila Mill in Kotka, Finland. By monitoring dirt and shives on the mill’s pulp drying line 6, the system optimizes both end product quality and line efficiency. The new system will be started up in November 2016. (Espoo, Finland, Nov. 11, 2016) Metsä Group’s sales in January–September 2016 totalled Euro 3,482.7 million, compared to Euro 3,810.6 million in January–September 2015.
The comparable operating result was Euro 332.1 million, or 9.5% of sales. Canadian Kraft Paper Industries acquires Tolko’s kraft paper mill
(Manitoba, Canada, Nov. 15, 2016) Canadian Kraft Paper Industries Limited, a company affiliated with American Industrial Acquisition Corporation, has purchased Tolko Industries’ Manitoba kraft paper mill and sawmill in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada.
As part of the agreement, all current Manitoba employees will transition to Canadian Kraft Paper Industries Limited, and maintain operations going forward. Orient Paper’s 3Q revenue up 15.6 per cent
(Baoding, China, Nov. 14, 2016) For the 3Q 2016, Orient Paper’s total revenue increased by $5.1 million, or 15.6%, to $37.5 million from $32.4 million for the same period of the last year. The increase in total revenue was primarily due to an increase in sales of regular CMP and tissue paper products.

Poland’s Velvet Care to invest €37M, expand workforce
(Warsaw, Poland, Nov. 14, 2016) Polish tissue paper maker Velvet Care is implementing an investment worth PLN 160 million (€37 million) to build new production halls at its plant in Klucze, Poland.
The company will purchase a new paper making machine that will raise its output capacity by about 70,000 tonnes per year, Marek Sciazko, the deputy president of Velvet Care, told local daily Gazeta Krakowska.
