WTO cuts 2016 world trade growth forecast to 1.7 percent, cites wake-up call
(Geneva, Sept. 27, 2016) The World Trade Organization cut its forecast for global trade growth this year by more than a third on Tuesday, reflecting a slowdown in China and falling levels of imports into the United States.
The new figure of 1.7 percent, down from the WTO’s previous estimate of 2.8 percent in April, marked the first time in 15 years that international commerce was expected to lag the growth of the world economy, the trade body said.

Packaging Corp. of America to Acquire Columbus Container for $100 Million
(USA, Oct. 12, 2016) Packaging Corp. of America ("PCA") today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Columbus Container, Inc., an independent corrugated products producer, in a cash-free, debt-free transaction for a cash purchase price of $100 million.

Lenzing invests EUR 100 mn in dissolving pulp production
(Lenzing/Vienna, October 11, 2016) The Lenzing Group will expand and modernize its existing dissolving wood pulp production at the sites in Lenzing/Austria and Paskov/Czech Republic.
At a press meeting in Vienna today, Lenzing CEO Stefan Doboczky announced a total investment program of EUR 100 mn, approximately EUR 60 mn of it in Lenzing and almost EUR 40 mn in Paskov. Additional new capacities of around 35,000 tons will be added over the next 2.5 years.

Prinzhorn Group plans to invest in new paper machine; capacity 493,000 t/a containerboard
(Germany, Oct. 14, 2016) Hamburger Rieger GmbH, part of the Austrian Prinzhorn Group, has applied for a new permission to set up a second paper machine at its Spremberg location in Germany. The already granted permission runs out in January 2017.
The newly designed paper machine will have state-of-the-art technology, a width of 7,90m and an annual production capacity of 493,000 tons containerboard. The Euro 370 million investment will create 200 new jobs.

Idempapers to Hike Price for Carbonless Sheets
