Brazil’s Export of Pulp, Wood Panels and Paper Increased Substantially in First Half 2016
(Sao Paulo, Brazil, August 11, 2016) The balance of trade for the Brazilian planted tree industry totaled US$ 3.3 billion in the first half of 2016, recording a high of 12% year-over-year. The revenues of pulp, wood panels and paper exports totaled US$ 3.8 billion, 3.8% higher year-over-year, when the total was US$ 3.7 billion.

Total U.S. Boxboard Production Down 2.5% in July
(Washington DC, August 18, 2016) The American Forest & Paper Association has released its July 2016 U.S. Paperboard Report which said total boxboard production decreased 2.5 percent when compared to July 2015 but increased 2.2 percent from last month.
Unbleached Kraft Boxboard production decreased over the same month as last year and decreased compared to last month.

International Paper Moves Ahead with Acquisition of Weyerhaeuser’s Pulp Business
(Memphis, USA, Aug. 5, 2016) The U.S. Department of Justice has concluded its Hart-Scott-Rodino review of International Paper’s announced acquisition of Weyerhaeuser’s pulp business without taking any action. Regulatory reviews in other non-U.S. jurisdictions are ongoing.
